Samsung Galaxy S21 users have reported the Greenline issue on their devices; as per the information, it is cited on the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy S21 FE models in large numbers.
According to some users, the green line suddenly appeared on the screen randomly, while others are claiming that they are facing this issue after installing new software updates or by using a smartphone with high processing tasks like playing games.
The Galaxy S21 FE user reported experiencing the issue immediately after installing a new software update. Additionally, a Galaxy S21 Ultra user noticed the same issue when installing the April 2024 security patch.
Samsung hasn’t said anything officially about the issue, so there is no information available about the exact reason behind it. Most likely, it is a hardware defect, which may be the result of a lack of the latest software compatibility.
According to the Android Authority, the issue may be caused by some environmental factors. When you update your device to the latest update, it may disturb its heat balancing mechanism, which causes overheating and ultimately affects the display assembly. In simple words, the heat may lose the glue holding the display components, which leads to the green line issue.
As far as the solution, if it comes down to a hardware issue, then Samsung should offer repair and replacement for the devices. The company has already done it in the case of the Galaxy S20 smartphones. If you are also experiencing this issue, we recommend that you record the condition of your device using video and photos, and then consult with a Samsung representative.
