In addition to having new hardware, Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series is also expected to launch with the One UI 6.1, an improved operating system based on Android 14, which brings in a number of updated software features. The additional Galaxy tablet and phone models that will receive the new software upgrade have not yet been verified by Samsung. Samsung is currently making a preliminary list public. Earlier, it was predicted that the newly launched smartphones, tablets, and foldables would receive the most attention, followed by several devices. But now a leak has shown a few extra numbers of Galaxy devices on the list.
As to Tarun Vats, a tech enthusiast and leaker, Samsung has reportedly begun testing the One UI 6.1 released for some older Galaxy smartphones. The most recent foldable Galaxy Z Fold 5 (review) and Galaxy Z Flip 5 (review), as well as the Galaxy S23 flagships from the previous year, are specifically on the list, as it was predicted earlier. Samsung’s servers have one UI 6.1 test firmware for the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy A54, and Galaxy A34.
Samsung appears to be progressing well with the development of One UI 6.1, based on the firmware that appeared suddenly for all of these devices. However, it seems that compared to One UI 5.1, One UI 6.1 will take a delay in time to arrive on all the devices. Since the next Android 14-based update is bringing several AI-integrated features to Galaxy devices, it is obvious that there is a time lag. Also, it is unknown whether the earlier devices will be eligible to receive the update.
