Verizon rolled out the December 2023 update for Galaxy Note 20 series devices; however, it is not the first carrier to roll out it, but these devices have already received the same update on some other carriers, including US Cellular, and are expected to be available more widely in the next few days.
Users who own Verizon Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra can easily identify the latest update by these firmware version numbers, N981USQS6HWK1 and N986USQS6HWK1, respectively. The latest update for these devices is not carrying any significant changes, but it will provide a layer of safety.
As per the Verizon official page, the latest update will include the latest Android security patches, which means it will provide a plethora of fixes for several functions that are making the device vulnerable. And sometimes these updates make changes internally to bring smoothness to the performance and stability of the devices. So if you want to be secure and bug-free, then you should always keep your device up-to-date.
If you are also using the Verizon-locked Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra devices in the US, then you should update them to the latest version. To do that, you can simply go to the software update menu from the main system settings, tap on the download and install option, wait for some time until it checks for the new update; if it says the new update is available, then tap the download button.
The Galaxy Note 20 was the last device in the Note series; the company introduced it back in 2020 with Android 10 preinstalled. Later, as promised, the device has grabbed three more major updates in the form of Android 11, Android 12, and Android 13 sequentially. Now, it is no longer eligible to get any major updates, but it is expected to get more security updates in the future.
