Nowadays, smartphones come with massive batteries, and to change that, companies are offering fast chargers, but currently, there is no way for the end user to recognize whether a charger is fast or not, so to bring this capability, Android 15 is on the way to solving the issue.
As of now, Android simply considers any charger with at least 7.5 W as fast charging, which doesn’t make sense as only one label is enough to differentiate charging into three categories, including slow charging, normal charging, and fast charging.
According to the information, Android currently rates charging lower than 5 watts as slow; charging between 5 and 7.5 watts is considered normal charging, while charging above 7.5 watts is defined as fast charging, which is not acceptable in the current scenario.
As you know, nowadays there are a lot of smartphones that have advanced applications that support more than 10 w, but if Android follows the older phenomenon, then it is difficult for users to choose the best fast charger for their device if it supports more than 20 w.
Thanks to Android 15, it is expected that Google will change the old phenomenon of charging recognition and apply new standards for fast charging. In the recent beta update for Android 15, there is a new flag identified as config_changingFATThreshold_V2. It has a value of 20000000 microwatts, referred to as 20 W. This suggests that Google will apply the 20 W as a fast charging lebel.
