The Google Wallet application for Wear OS deep-down is set up to expand its functionality, as it may soon ask you to enter your PIN code before permitting tap-to-pay transactions.
Google Wallet is working on adding an extra layer of security since, as soon as possible, Wear OS users should enter the code to authorize each payment, whereas previously they could take advantage of Google Wallet instantly by simply opening the application on the smartwatch and making a single hit.
A few reports are speculating on Reddit that for WearOS, Google Wallet may soon require you to enter your PIN code before allowing tap-to-pay transactions.
However, at the moment, it is yet to be clear how far-reaching this surprise is and is possibly still only being tested with a small circle of users. The reason behind this Google Wallet change on smartwatches appears to be a strong commitment to security. It is also possible that Google might not fully trust the security of Wear OS.
A couple of weeks ago, an important functionality was made for payment with Google Wallet through Android devices named identity verification, and at the end of March, the imperative to unlock the device before making a payment was executed. Along with the reference to identity verification, the support site pointed out that Google Wallet might work on new devices since it has not mentioned what kind of device specifically; therefore, it is possible that smartwatches would also be included in the novelty.
