Google Messages is not expanding its functionality to enhance the user experience by rolling out a dedicated FAB for Gemini, authorizing faster access to the AI chatbot.
Earlier this year, in May, Google added Gemini access inside Google Messages, and then suddenly a few days ago, the giant removed the Samsung and Pixel device exclusivity, introducing its AI-powered chatbot to Android devices with 6GB+ of RAM inside its messaging application. A teardown has already revealed that Google Messages is gearing up to introduce a faster way to access Gemini with a dedicated FAB button.
Finally, Google is rolling out this facility to Google Messages users widely. Clicking on the Gemini floating action button will give you direct access to the chatbot, permitting you to start a conversation quickly. When using the Gemini in messages for the first time, you must first accept the terms and conditions. After that, you can talk to Gemini and ask it to draft a message, get dinner ideas, and much more.
The Gemini FAB is housed above the Start chat button in the bottom-left corner of Google Messages. While it is noticeably smaller than the latter, the compose button shrinks while scrolling. However, it will only appear if you have RCS enabled in Google Messages and are logged in to your personal Google account. Also, your device must have 6GB+ RAM, and the language should be set to English. At this time, if you want to start conversion with the AI-powered chatbot, you first have to compose a new message and select Gemini from the list.
