SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus, three major telecom companies in South Korea, are launching unique phones exclusively available in their stores. In other words, these are the exclusive set of smartphones that will only be available in their particular shops. Industry insiders state that preparations are underway to launch the Samsung Electronics Galaxy A series as exclusive gadgets in the future year, in addition to plans including the Quantum 5, Jump 4, and Buddy 3.
Specific telecom companies solely offer exclusive phones. With this strategy, the telecom provider and device maker work closely together to determine specs and pricing, giving the former control over the latter. Notably, this group includes certain Galaxy A models, including SK Telecom’s Galaxy Quantum and KT’s Galaxy Jump. The fact that these special phones will only work with particular telecom careers highlights the corporation that exists between telecom providers and gadget manufacturers.
This effort to draw in more customers is anticipated to center around the Galaxy A series, which was previously renowned for its affordability. The Galaxy Jump 3, which retails for about 400,000 won, was a recent hit for KT and suggests that people are once again interested in exclusive phones. The usual range of annual sales statistics is from 500,000 to 1 million units. The increased demand for smartphones such as the Galaxy Jump series has KT and SK Telecom executives stressing the necessity of increasing the range of unique phones they provide.
They view the sale of unique phones as a means of raising customer pleasure and loyalty. The majority of exclusive phones, which are priced under 500,000 won, align with the government’s objective of lowering home communication expenses. The industry first investigated Chinese low-cost phones, but consumers now prefer Samsung Galaxy phones. Overall, SK Telecom and LG Uplus sold a little less than 300,000 copies of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 series when it was released earlier this year.
Unlike its competitors, LG Uplus has decided against releasing exclusive phones in 2023, citing the Galaxy Buddy 3’s delayed debut as a result of the Galaxy Buddy 2’s weaker sales. LG Uplus remains committed to producing unique phones, and the future of the Buddy series and any potential new products remains uncertain.
