We are in the final stage of April 2024. Samsung has already rolled out this month’s security patch, ‘April 2024 Security Patch, to most of the Galaxy devices, but apart from the monthly patch, it has also released one more update across the European region.
Despite the April 2024 security patch, Samsung has delivered another update to several devices, which are mentioned below:
- Galaxy S24 series
- Galaxy S23 series
- Galaxy S22 series
- Galaxy Z Fold 5
- Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Galaxy A54
These Galaxy devices have already received this update, and the rest of the devices are expected to get it soon. It’s worth noting that under no circumstances should you skip this latest Samsung update when it arrives on your devices. The Korean giant is delivering this crucial network update, which brings several changes to cellular carrier support.

Support for additional bands has been added in a few markets to meet network providers’ requirements. The Korean giant has also receded support for select bands, as few carriers may stop using those bands together; for instance, several carriers are deciding to drop 2G networks, which means that your device would not fall back to the legacy network.
The reason behind this critical update is that you would not be able to call emergency numbers in those markets if you didn’t install the update. This will make sure your device has connectivity on all of the network bands that carriers in the regions are using, so that in the event of an emergency, you will have the power to call the required emergency services.
This update will also remove TDD 4G network support for devices bought in Germany, meaning those devices would not be connected to these networks in Germany, Belgium, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland. The huge majority of carriers in Europe use FDD 4G networks; the removal of TDD 4G network support, especially for those who bought their smartphones in Germany, would not have enough impact when they are connected to the 4G networks elsewhere.
