Samsung is overcoming its own targets now, as it has beat its own smartphone and tablet manufacturing goals by 22% in the first quarter of this year.
Samsung has decided to manufacture only 53 million units, excluding those manufactured by its contract suppliers, such as Wingtech, but the ratio crosses the mark as the giant manufactured 64.5 million units of smartphones and tablets during the quarter.
If the metrics during the quarter are calculated, then the giant manufactured 22% more than it initially targeted. The reason behind this boost is the Galaxy AI-enabled Galaxy S24 series, which, within a few days, broke its predecessor series’ pre-order records.
Now, Samsung is also expected to have multiplied production to protect enough inventory of conventional smartphones before the debut of its foldable Galaxy smartphones. The boost also increased the factory operation rate of Samsung Display, which provides OLED panels for Galaxy devices.
The reports say that Samsung Display’s A2 line, which produces rigid OLED panels for the Galaxy A series, currently has an operation rate of up to 80%. Now the Korean giant is aiming to deliver 253 million units of Galaxy devices this year, with 51 million of them being Galaxy S series and foldable.
